despite a year in which what von Schubert described as nature’s eventual “turbo-autumn” was preceded by severe hail and an unprecedented tornado that felled 200-year-old trees and a portion of the vineyard walls – to say nothing of the toll it took on vines
and sweet red berry fruit add to the wine's stunning allure
but there is lots to enjoy here now
round and suave medium-bodied flavors that are delicious and easy-to-like and culminate in a tangy and sappy finish
this is not to say that it is an elegant wine though it is less youthfully austere than I typically find with this wine
Burn Cottage, Sauvage Vineyard Pinot Noir Vintage:2021 despite a year in whichThe 2021 Pinot Noir Sauvage Vineyard is succulent, tender and feels unforced. Sitting comfortably on the palate, it already has a sense of approachability. It displays black cherries and fruit cake alongside integrated oak derived cedar notes. Fine tension and a line on the finish provide an attractive sinewy element, drawing the wine out on the medium long finish. The 2021 is done in a well considered, unadulterated style.
