A vague whiff of exotic fruit is present on the mostly white orchard fruit aromas that are trimmed in perceptible if still reasonably subtle wood influence

I had the opportunity to retaste the wonderful 2015 Hermitage and have taken this opportunity to up my rating of it a couple of points

Inky blue/purplish fruit

aged in 33% new wood)

the tannins are the most pertinent feature

Raspberry jam, white pepper, flowers, mint and sweet spices hove on the palate in a decidedly mid weight Brunello that emphasizes grace and agility. The persistent, textured finish is striking. It will be interesting to see if the 2009 puts on weight in bottle, or if it remains the slghtly fragile, fleeting wine it is today. Stella di Campalto's wines never lack
