Distinguished Conduct Medal - GV - Field Marshals Bust Category_Gallantry 2nd Awards Is the Air Force CrossAwarded from 1911, the awards of the DCM reached around 25,000. The bars which originally had the date of the acts in raised lettering were changed in 1916 to the standard laurelled bars, presumably this was due to the cost of making individual bars with so many acts of gallantry being performed. This type of DCM was awarded until 1930 when it was replaced by the crowned head issue of GV, the rarest DCM with only 14 awards being made.
