Like the Rugiens this youthfully austere effort is not blessed with outstanding mid-palate density but it’s wellbalanced and harmonious and should age effortlessly yet be approachable after only 5 to 7 years if desired
At this point it’s a little simpler than the other two Downie Pinots in this line up
This is going to require extended patience if you wish to see it at its peak
but that allows the more savoury taste of an older wine to balance the creamy richness of the body
which has fairly sandy soils
